Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions

What should I have coded?

Anything you value, whether or not it is an antique, fine art or of particular value to you. There are many factors you will take into account but don’t forget heirlooms and other treasured items have intrinsic personal value and are just as irreplaceable as more financially valuable items. Although Identidot services are aimed at antiques, fine art and other valuable possessions, everyday items can also be coded. There really isn’t anything that Identidot cannot code.

Will the coding harm my objects?

The simple answer is No. Our coders are expertly trained. They know exactly how and where best to apply the DNA. This varies from object to object. Whenever possible, items are coded in situ to minimise disturbance using the most suitable form of DNA, either liquid or powder.

Can the coding be removed?

In order to remove the coding its location would need to be known, as the DNA is invisible it makes it almost impossible to remove. The DNA has been bench tested to the equivalent of 100 years exposure and is safe to temperatures of 400°C and to minus 40°C which means that items of cutlery and glass ware can still be washed using a dishwasher and outdoor statuary can be coded without the fear of the coding wearing off.

Identidot’s deterrent ratio is second to none.
